SKAGIT RIVER RESORT

Seasonal Activities

This list is just a start. When you check in, feel free to ask us for suggestions on "what's happening" and directions to places to visit. There are usually enough activities around here to keep you and your family well occupied, once your batteries are recharged after indulging in some old-fashioned country relaxation.

Entrance to the Resort (Autumn view from Wildwood Chapel west up Clark Cabin Road)

Spring

Going for hikes, picking wild flowers in the mountain meadows, photographing the bunnies, picking morel mushrooms, going for a nice country drive, floating the Skagit River in a canoe or kayak, smelling the pitch in the mountain air while river rafting, reading a good book, going on an old fashion Easter egg hunt, going on a picnic and having the Eatery pack a delicious lunch for you.

Summer

Basking in the summer 80 degree weather, resting on your deck watching the rabbits, taking a new trail to a hidden lake, going for a boat ride on our many lakes, going fishing in our streams and rivers, enjoying meeting new friends around the community camp fire, having wonderful BBQ ribs and chicken at the Eatery, going for a river walk early in the morning when the dew is still on the leaves, touring the Skagit power project, or at night laying a blanket down on the grass and watching a falling star or Aurora Borealis. Want more action? Summer's the time to raft the Skagit, explore the backwoods roads by mountain bike or climb the peaks in the North Cascades. Want more? There's badminton, volleyball, bunny-hole golf and old-fashioned horseshoes.

Fall

There isn't any place prettier than our autumn leaves and the colors in the North Cascades. They are equal to Maine and Massachusetts. Enjoy a latté or a Tummy Warmer at The Eatery, or have pumpkin pancakes with homemade apple syrup, or take a walk and kick some leaves. You can go chanterelle mushroom picking or horseback riding.

Winter

When the snow comes we are in a winter wonderland. The snow is light and fluffy, and each snowflake is especially carved out for the North Cascades grandeur. Cross-country skiers, snowmobilers and snowshoers usually find enough white stuff to please. You might make snow angels or roll in the snow, w-o-o-o-o, stimulating!!! The nights are long so we enjoy playing board games or a good game of pinochle and some hot chocolate or watch a favorite movie around the fireplace with popcorn. It is a good time to enjoy a hay ride with that special honey that you have to cuddle up to keep warm, while you try to guess the artist on some oldies but goodies songs, with popcorn and hot chocolate. This is a great place to do your Christmas shopping in "the forest of good things" to make that house a home during this special season. Some people come up to cut their own Christmas tree.
