Stacey Board entertained an audience of about a dozen folks here at the Brookhaven Lodge, singing some wonderful songs she wrote and composed. Everyone really enjoyed her music, and I especially liked the lullaby she wrote for her husband. A Canadian, he creates her CD's and they have bonded their personal and professional lives with music. Way to go Stacey and thank you again for your short visit with us.

House Concert:
Stacey Board

Life has taken Stacey from her roots in the south to
Southern California (and now Utah), a state that has taken her to heart
and for three consecutive years voted her "Best Folk/Acoustic" in the
Salt Lake City Weekly's Reader's Poll. She continues to tour and perform
almost nonstop across the west.
In August 2006 Stacey released her latest studio recording, Look To The
Sun. It has Stacey poised on the brink of a much greater audience and
much greater exposure.
Its not often that we are given a lift out of our lives, and know the
range of our own emotions more fully by glimpsing the heights and depths
of someone else's. Stacey Board's performance both on stage and on her
recordings gives us that chance. Her poetic lyrics, clever chord
progressions, and soulful vocals are unique in this world, and should
not be missed.
"This time, it’s about flowers, and again, she’s
brilliant in the way she covers every detail. Not only do the lyrics
make references to blooming and wilting and drinking in the sunlight,
but the tempo of each song is patient and laid-back, like a flower
taking its sweet time to open. Her voice is less conversational and more
crooning, lilting, in harmony with nature. Hearing her pure
country/folkie/earthy voice with its twangy spunk on this CD feels like
lying in the warm grass on a spring day, basking in the sun.
"The songs are soulful reflections of love and loss without any trace of
melodrama, not even in the opener “Cry Cry Cry.” That one’s just a
down-to-earth description of a woman having to let it all out every once
in a while."
