Stephen & Katerina as Mojácar Flamenco inspired us with a
spicy
performance of music inspired by their time spent in España.
Stephen's classical Spanish guitar was right on and so listenable, while
Katerina entertained with a memorable sampling of traditional flamenco
dance with its intricate foot and handwork. "Beautiful, Graceful,
Creative, Exciting, Innovative, Pure fun." These words express all of
the feelings our concert performers Stephen Dick and his wife left us
with. A great feeling of a wonderful performance and pure gold
entertainment. Wish you all could have been there.

House Concert:
Mojácar Flamenco with
Stephen Dick
Mojácar
is an ancient village overlooking the Mediterranean Sea on the coast of
southern Spain. While there at an artists retreat, Stephen was asked to
perform a concert of his original contemporary flamenco music. Inspired
by flamenco innovators, influenced by great Brazilian artists, and
shaped by the possibilities of the guitar itself, his music is a very
personal statement.
Stephen is part of a flamenco trio based in Los Angeles, CA, where they teach and perform. The group, comprised of Stephen on guitar, Katerina Tomás with voice, footwork and palmas, and Fernando Diez on percussion and palmas, has performed across the United States, Canada and Europe.
As an award-winning guitar soloist, Stephen brings us the results of music study in Spain, the birthplace of flamenco, tempered by his travels to listen and play with artists who are taking the classic sound of Spanish guitar to today’s audiences.
As he says, this music is al que quiere — for whoever wants it. We do, and we are sure this will be a memorable evening of flamenco heat, jazz cool and Latin spice.
7:30pm at Brookhaven Lodge.
